Community Project Coordinator

The Children’s Literacy Charity believes every child has the right to a fair chance of future success.

As we look to expand our work in the community we are looking for someone to coordinate the delivery of Community Literacy Labs across London.  You will deploy, train and coordinate Literacy Lab tutors and volunteers and manage the timetable to cover all Community Labs.

The role requires someone who is willing to deliver the programme to agreed targets (numbers of children supported and Community Literacy Labs recruited) to ensure it is educationally robust, efficiently run and maximising its impact.

You will be a natural networker, well organised and most importantly you will have a passion for improving the lives of children in disadvantaged areas

Full-time equivalent salary: £23k – £25k

Temporary, Part-time, flexible working 3 days a week (incl. Saturdays)

Community Literacy Tutor

We are currently looking for a tutor to join our team in Harlesden, London NW10.

The successful candidate will tutor children in schools in our Literacy Lab on a Tuesday afternoon. There will be 4 pupils to teach on a one-to-one basis using our established programme.

January Start

Based in Harlesden Primary School, NW10

Hours: Part-time, 2.30-5.30pm (Tues)

Salary: £10.20 per hour

The ideal applicant will be:

  • literate and proficient in English
  • experienced in working with or looking after primary aged children
  • able to demonstrate empathy, understanding and patience towards children who are experiencing learning difficulties
  • a good team player
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
