Our tutoring goes online

Supporting literacy in the home

Introduction

We are now able to offer one-to-one online tutoring for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, supporting children with their literacy skills.

We know that one-to-one, face-to-face teaching is the best method to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly if they have barriers to their literacy learning.  At present, we are unable to provide our usual support in our Community Literacy Lab at the The Abbey Centre in Westminster. We will continue with our online literacy tuition programme for primary aged children.  This will resume in September for a child who is based in Westminster and who falls under schools’ criteria of pupil premium, SEN or have English as an Additional Language.

Online tutoring will be via Zoom and all safeguarding measures will be adhered to. Our tutors are trained in ensuring your children’s safety online is their number one priority.

We currently have places for tutoring primary aged pupils on Saturday mornings, term time only.  If you are interested in receiving online literacy tutoring for your child, please email info@theclc.org.uk to register your child.  Places are limited so please do contact us asap.

Literacy support is vital to ensure the literacy gap does not widen further.
