Our tutoring goes online

Supporting literacy in the home

Introduction

We are now able to offer one-to-one online tutoring for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, supporting children with their literacy skills.

We know that one-to-one, face to face teaching is the best method to support children, particularly if they have barriers to their learning.  At present, we are unable to provide our usual support in our Community Literacy Labs.  The Abbey Centre in Westminster is currently closed and until they are able to reopen, we are offering our tutoring programme online to the families we support.  We are also offering online tutoring to children who fall under schools’ criteria of pupil premium, SEN or have English as an Additional Language.

Online tutoring will be via Zoom and all safeguarding measures will be adhered to. Our tutors are trained in ensuring your children’s safety online (and offline) is their number one priority.

We currently have places for tutoring on Saturdays and we will also have slots free over the summer holidays across Monday to Friday.  If you are interested in receiving online tutoring for your child, please email info@theclc.org.uk and a form will be sent to you to register your child.

It is important for us all to be working together to support children in need to who have missed out on schooling. We all need to play a part in closing the literacy gap.
