Rachel Church-Moore’s son began a literacy intervention with us when he was in Year Two.
“When my son began going attending a Literacy Lab nearly two years ago he was not only struggling with basic reading and writing skills, but had very little confidence and self-esteem. Since working with his tutor Beata, these things have markedly improved.
We are very grateful for the intuitive and insightful way that Beata has taught him and inspired him to learn. My son is a sensitive and intelligent boy who is very aware that his reading and writing are not equal to that of his peers. The encouragement and enthusiasm that his tutor gives him is so important as it constantly reinforces his belief in himself.
He says himself that it helps to have a ‘can do’ mind set.
That The Children’s Literacy Charity can offer (through a Literacy Lab), one to one tuition, long term, with the same tutor, I believe is one of the key reasons it is so successful.
My son has developed a really lovely relationship with his tutor and holds her in high regard. He often comes home telling me interesting facts that she has told him about travel, wildlife and animals, which are all his passions.”
