Welcome to Story Lab

Story Lab helps young children in nursery and reception develop important early language and literacy skills. It also supports their social and emotional development.

Children take part in school in an interactive storytelling session, twice a week with a trained tutor. These sessions are small (just 4 or 5 children) and last between 20 and 30 minutes. The children enjoy listening to and talking about a wide range of stories. This helps them learn new words, improve their listening, and become more confident.

We use carefully chosen picture books to spark imagination, widen vocabulary and help children understand feelings – their own and others’. Story Lab also teaches important life skills like taking turns and building confidence. Our books also help children develop a love of reading, which is known to improve their success at school over time.
