The Children’s Literacy Charity is a registered charity working alongside pupils who struggle to read and write. Our vision is to close the literacy gap for all disadvantaged children, enabling them to achieve their true potential. We have the following tutor and trainer vacancies:

Specialist Literacy Tutor (London)

We are looking for a skilled tutor to deliver a multi-sensory, fun and stimulating literacy programme to secondary aged pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, developing personalised learning plans to support pupil targets.

With experience of teaching or tutoring in a primary or secondary school setting, you will liaise with educational staff and the school SENco, using a formative assessment tool to monitor and review pupil progress and build a supportive and encouraging relationship with pupils, helping them reach their potential.

You will tutor pupils on a one-to-one or one-to-three basis in a school based in Herne Hill, London for 2 days per week, term time only for the next academic year (September 2024 -July 2025 FTC). Reading Lab Tutors (Crewe & Cannock)

We are looking for skilled tutors to deliver our Reading Lab programme at schools in Crewe and Cannock. With experience working with primary aged children, you will tutor small groups of children on a one-to-three basis in primary schools. You will tutor 15 pupils twice a week on our 10-week catch up reading comprehension programme. Full training and induction will be provided along with ongoing support.

This is a 10 week contract with the potential to be extended. The roles are for 2 full days a week. The rate is £100-£110 per day depending on skills & experience. Please see the job description and person specification link below for more details.

Freelance Literacy Trainers (Stoke/Staffordshire)

The charity is growing its Reader Leader programme across St Bart’s Trust in Stoke/Staffordshire and we are looking for experienced trainers with a background in literacy who will work with us to help promote the programme and deliver the one-day training course in schools.

These roles are freelance at a rate of £140 per half day session with the opportunity to deliver between 2-4 sessions a week, dependent on how many trainers we recruit. Please see the role information below and apply via the application form.
