EXPERT LITERACY LAB

90% of our Literacy Lab graduates closed or significantly narrowed their literacy gap.
75% closed theit reading gap entirely. 7% came within 3 months of closing their reading gap. 8% came within 4 to 6 months of closing their reading age gap. 10% narrowed their reading gap.
10,430 expert tuition sessions delivered.

For every one month a child has our Literacy Lab tuition, children make 4.1 months of reading progress. 
*A ratio gain of 2 or more is considered ‘useful impact’. Above 4.0 is considered ’remarkable impact’. (Brooks 2007).

Parental engagement: 
Involving parents in their child’s literacy journey is an important part of our work.  Families are invited to introductory workshops and celebration assemblies and encouraged to access reading resources on the charity’s website.
Our Early Years Story Lab programme began it's trial phase in January 2025, and of the 75 Reception aged children taking part 82% achieved the Early Learning Goal in Communication, Language and Literacy (CLL)
Reader Leader mentoring. 
1404 pupils supported. 
Our one-day Reader Leader workshop - training older school pupils to be reading mentors for younger children and helping to embed a culture of reading for pleasure across a school.
The Children we Aupport;

46% have English as an additional language
25% have special educational needs. 
Priority is given to children from disadvantaged backgrounds for the Tuition programmes
