Book Talk
Before – Chat about the title and the front cover: Who could this book be about? What might happen?
During – Ask questions: What is happening? How does she feel? Why has he done that?
After – Ask your child’s opinion: Did they enjoy the book? Which was their favourite part?
Relaxed Time, Comfy Place, Good Book
Find a time that works for you both when you are not tired. Find a quiet, comfy place where you can relax together. Choose a brilliant book that will interest your child.
Share the Joy
Read to your child so that they can enjoy listening.
Try shared reading – taking turns with each sentence or page.
Re-read books so that your child can gain confidence
