We are currently recruiting a Reading Lab tutor to work in Crewe, and an HR Officer to join our central office team.


Reading Lab tutor

We are looking for a tutor to deliver our Reading Lab programme in Crewe, CW1.

The role is part-time, 2 days a week, with a start date in February. This role is for the second half of the Spring 2026 term, and for a further 10 weeks over the Summer 2026 term. The salary is £105 per day.

You will be tutoring KS2 students on a one-to-three basis, in a primary school. You will tutor 15 pupils twice a week on our 10-week catch up reading comprehension programme. Full training and induction will be provided along with ongoing support.

Requirements

We are looking for a tutor who can build supportive and encouraging relationships with children and help them reach their potential, undertake assessments, maintain accurate records that produce impact data, and forge a strong relationship with the partner school team.

You will be:

  • an experienced teacher, literacy tutor or high level teaching assistant
  • able to demonstrate empathy, understanding and patience towards children who require additional support
  • competent in Microsoft Office packages
  • able to show excellent communication and organisational skills
  • a pro-active self-starter who enjoys working under own initiative
  • able to reliably travel to the school within the times specified

HR Officer

London/Hybrid / 10.5 hours pw / FTC / £30,000 pro rata

We are looking for an experienced HR Officer to join our growing charity and support our work delivering specialist tuition to the children most in need.

This part time role will involve delivering a comprehensive HR service to our workforce of specialist tutors and central office team with a strong focus on recruitment, supporting the employee life cycle and payroll.

Working closely with our Head of Finance, you will be experienced in generalist HR (including recruitment) with a pragmatic approach to problem solving and offering fit for purpose HR advice, adaptable to shifting priorities, comfortable with the financial/payroll elements of the role, using databases and adept at MS Excel. Experience in the education sector or working within a charity, small organisation or start up is advantageous.

You will need to be able to reliably travel to central London be able to evolve and flex to the needs of a growing charity. It is anticipated that the hours will be worked across multiple days with some hybrid working. The role is fixed term for one year with the potential for extension.
